Back from Argentina...

It's been a while since I wrote anything on here so there's lots to go over.
Argentina was pretty sweet. The whole trip was pretty much just coming alongside the Rendle family who are full-time missionaries there and working with them and supporting them in whichever ways we could. We put on a retreat for some of the kids in their 'Alloy' youth group, hung out with those same kids a lot, painted a room in a kids' community centre called Conviven in a pretty poor neighbourhood, and put on a day camp there. Overall it was a sweet trip filled with lots of new friendships and lots of good work.

It wasn't all work though. A lot of the time we just spent hanging around with the Rendle kids and getting to know them pretty well. We did also have one day off where we just went into downtown Buenos Aires and chilled there. It was pretty crazy there with all the people trying to sell you stuff. All the people trying to talk to you in Spanish when you don't know any is pretty crazy too, which happened every day. I did manage to learn a couple of key words and phrases in Spanish though so it wasn't too bad. By the time we left I could confidently order something at restaurants or mcdonalds or other stores like that so that was fun.

Overall it was a great experience going to Argentina. It was lots of work, but it was also lots of fun. It's good going to another culture because it gives you so much more perspective of how much differently people in other countries live. There are some pretty drastic differences between Canada and Argentina. One big difference is having to kiss people when you meet them and when you say goodbye, even other guys. It was weird at first but then I got used to it so it was all good.
